Meet Favour Malagu, Founder of HOOGLAM & ScalitOS

Building fashion, technology, and opportunities from a global perspective

For Favour Malagu, entrepreneurship was never just about starting a business.

It was about creating opportunities that didn't already exist.

Born in Nigeria and now based in Bucharest, Romania, Favour has spent much of her journey navigating new countries, balancing work and studies, and building ambitious ventures with limited resources. Along the way, she discovered that waiting for opportunities was rarely enough.

Instead, she decided to build them herself.

Today, she is the founder of HOOGLAM, a fashion and beauty brand blending African creativity with modern global design, and ScalitOS, a marketing platform helping businesses manage content, campaigns, and growth more efficiently.

"I'm passionate about creating impactful brands, connecting creativity with business strategy, and building globally relevant businesses from underrepresented communities."

The decision to stop waiting

Like many founders, Favour's entrepreneurial journey began with a simple frustration.

As a young Nigerian living abroad, she experienced firsthand how difficult it could be for founders, creatives, and small businesses to access visibility, structure, and global opportunities.

Rather than seeing those barriers as permanent, she saw them as problems worth solving.

That mindset became the foundation for both of her ventures.

HOOGLAM emerged from a desire to create fashion that celebrates African creativity while speaking to a global audience. ScalitOS grew from seeing how many small businesses struggle to access the marketing support and systems needed to grow sustainably.

Both ventures share a common goal: helping people build bigger opportunities than the ones available to them.

From ideas to ventures

One of the most important turning points in Favour's journey came when she began participating in startup and founder communities. Until then, many of her ambitions had lived as personal ideas.

Being surrounded by other entrepreneurs helped her realise something important: her ideas belonged on a global stage.

"That experience helped shape my mindset from simply having ideas to building real ventures with long-term vision and impact."

It was a shift that changed how she viewed herself as a founder. Instead of asking whether her ideas were possible, she started asking how to make them happen.

Building across fashion and technology

While many founders focus on a single industry, Favour is building across two very different worlds.

With HOOGLAM, she is creating fashion and beauty products that blend African influence with contemporary international aesthetics. Rather than chasing fast-fashion trends, the brand focuses on bold, elegant, and intentionally designed pieces.

With ScalitOS, she is tackling a completely different challenge: helping businesses simplify marketing and growth through technology.

At first glance, fashion and marketing software may seem unrelated.

For Favour, however, both ventures are rooted in the same principles.

Creativity. Innovation. Accessibility. Growth.

"What excites me most is the potential to make high-level marketing support more accessible to small businesses and founders who often lack the resources for traditional agencies."

Waiting for opportunities was not enough. I had to start creating them myself.

Leading with resilience

Ask Favour what most influences her leadership style, and her answer isn't a business book or famous entrepreneur.

It's her mother.

After Favour's father was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, her mother became the sole breadwinner for both their immediate and extended family while simultaneously running her own school.

Watching her manage immense responsibility while continuing to build taught Favour lessons that continue to shape her entrepreneurial journey today.

"Leadership is not only about ambition or success. It is also about consistency, responsibility, and showing up for people even during difficult seasons."

Those lessons became especially valuable as Favour navigated the realities of building businesses while balancing financial limitations, work responsibilities, and life abroad.

Building before you're ready

Like many founders, Favour admits she spent time waiting for perfect conditions.

Looking back, she wishes she had started sooner.

"I would tell my past self not to underestimate the value of starting before feeling fully ready."

Entrepreneurship taught her that growth rarely comes from perfect planning. It comes from action, iteration, and learning along the way.

The setbacks, slow seasons, and moments of uncertainty she once feared became some of her greatest teachers.

Today, she approaches challenges differently.

Rather than waiting for ideal circumstances, she focuses on continuous learning, meaningful relationships, and taking the next step forward.

Finding community through Founderland

For Favour, Founderland represents more than a network. It represents visibility, collaboration, and belonging.

As a founder building across industries while living abroad, she values being surrounded by women who understand both the challenges and possibilities of building ambitious businesses from underrepresented backgrounds.

"Being part of Founderland means being surrounded by a community of ambitious women founders who understand both the challenges and possibilities of building globally impactful businesses."

It is a reminder that entrepreneurship may be deeply personal, but it does not have to be lonely.

Advice to her earlier self

If she could go back and speak to the founder she once was, her message would be simple:

Trust your vision.

Take up space.

Start before you feel ready.

And keep going.

Because sometimes the biggest difference between an idea and a company is the willingness to begin.

What's next?

Right now, Favour is particularly excited about the future of ScalitOS. Her vision is to make sophisticated marketing support more accessible to founders and small businesses, helping them grow without needing the resources of large organisations.

At the same time, she continues to expand HOOGLAM through new collections that bring together African creativity and global design.

Building two ventures simultaneously is not easy.

But for Favour, both represent different expressions of the same mission: creating opportunities, expanding possibilities, and building businesses that can compete on a global stage.
